Staging The HallwayThis is the hallway. It is also the entry way - that is this is where the front door is. This is how the hallway was when I bought the house. The hallway has always bugged me. It's dark and narrow. Here is a before picture of the hallway.
You can see a portion of the kitchen from the doorway. Unfortunately, what you see is the black of the dishwasher. Jill's Suggestions: Start calling the hallway "The Parlour". That will help me think of the hallway as a room instead of a transition area. Take down pictures that are going up the hallway. Paint the hallway linen white - including the dark paneling going up the stairs. Hang khangas (African fabric) or a large piece of mudcloth on the wall going into the kitchen. Paint woodwork white. Take down bulletin boards. Get rid of the rugs in the hallway to show off the nice floor underneath. Get rid of the curtain. _________ In the kitchen (the area you can see from the hallway) -- Add some artwork above the dishwasher - maybe a print of tomatoes to work off the red Kitchen Aide mixer. Take down the hanging utensils - they suggest work. Find a stick on towel bar for the dishwaher or hooks and hang some red towels from the dishwasher. Love the pot rack.
